A New Self Portrait

naked 3
naked 2
naked 1
Okay, bearing in mind that the canvas I'll be working on measures about 3 feet by 4 feet, I was wondering whether I wanted to paint myself from head to toe, or just my torso and head. I had some photos taken of myself to work from, and these are some of the resulting sketches. So far my favorite is the pose in the middle, which I've added shading to with brush pens. More sketches of layouts to come.
You lot have been awfully quiet. Are you following what I'm doing and nodding your heads sagely, or are you stuck for works and leaving me in droves?

you are braver than me!!!

I'd go for the one you prefer and cut it off at mid-thigh?

I don't know about brave. Stupid exhibitionist maybe. Why mid-thigh by the way?

Are you posing naked? They are some very nice sketches. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Yes Chris, that's me. I've been looking into nude self-portraits and there aren't that many that I could find. I wonder why? No, seriously, I'm actually surprised that there aren't more of them. It just seems the right thing to do.

Don't worry though, I won't be changing the photo that pops up when I comment on this or other people's blogs.

Painting a naked self-portrait - brilliant idea. Posting it on your blog - I'm not so sure. At your next job interview, when the interviewer looks down at the papers he has on you, do you want this to be amongst them? Maybe yes, if your next job interview is for something fabulous and creative and artistic (which it should be!) But maybe no if it's another day-job similar to the one you have now.

How far are you going to take this? Is it going to be a completed, fully-realised, realistic self-portrait? If you have it in your head you should certainly paint it. Will you post it on here? Would you post a naked photo of yourself here? Would you post the reference photos?

Oh God, I'm half-tempted to delete this comment because the last thing I want to do is to inhibit you from painting what is coming from within. I repeat you ABSOLUTELY should paint this painting. I just want to make sure you have thought about whether you want to post your painting here on your blog.

Go for it girl!
It will most certainly be more honest and forthright than "How to look good naked!" What a fake show that is; all those women who profess to hate their bodies, but can't wait to get their kit off, they must think we're stupid.
The pose you prefer is the best and I'm sure that you will be proud of it when its finished.
